How often is the data updated?
Voting records and bill actions sync daily from Congress.gov. Campaign-finance data follows the FEC filing schedule (typically monthly or quarterly), and executive actions update as the Federal Register publishes them.
Where does the data come from?
Everything traces back to primary government sources: Congress.gov for legislation and votes, the FEC for campaign finance, the White House OMB for administration positions, and the U.S. Census geocoder for matching addresses to districts. We add no editorial data of our own.
I found a voting record that looks wrong. What should I do?
Use the form above and choose “Data correction.” Tell us the member, the vote, and where you saw it. We re-check every report against the official roll-call record before changing anything.
Is PolityLens affiliated with any political party?
No. PolityLens is independent and nonpartisan. We do not endorse candidates or parties. Our only goal is to make the public record legible.
How are AI summaries generated?
Plain-English summaries are generated by a large language model from the official text of a bill or order, then labeled with the model used and the date. They are a reading aid, not a substitute for the source. Every summary links to the primary document so you can verify it yourself.
Is PolityLens free?
Yes. PolityLens is free to use, with no account required. We are supported by readers. If the tool is useful to you, the Support page is the best way to keep it running.
How do I cancel a recurring (monthly) donation?
Choose "Cancel a donation" above and include the email you donated with. We process cancellations within 5 business days. If a charge goes through after you have asked to cancel but before we process it, we refund it in full. Cancelling stops all future charges; earlier months are not refunded.
